RAJANGANAYA RESERVOIR & ROCK

Rajanganaya is a beautiful village situated in   Anuradhapura province .This      village full of natural beauties there is a big potential  for promoting as a tourist   destination .around the area the villagers cultivating paddy and they doing farming on the rajanganaya dam is giving more beautiful to that village 

     The rajangana dam is an irrigation dam built across the kala oya river bordering the north western and north central province of Sri Lanka .The main concrete dam measures approximately 350m and create the Rajangana reservoir and there is historical believes that the great king duttugemunu”s son price Saliya and his future bride Asokamala spent they leisure time at the rock where Is situating on beside to the Rajangana dam. That rock is looking very marvelous and some domestic tourist who knows about this rock and dam they visits and enjoy. 

Still it’s not promoted and there is no any     accommodation facilities, accessibility facilities but this village can be promote under the  community based tourism   as a tourist destination  there is big potential for be a tourist destination. And there can   be promote ecofriendly and sustainable tourism because the surrounding of the Rajanganaya is full of natural greenish environment .If we see the sun set at the dam it’s amazing and refreshes the mind. I hope this place will be attracted by the tourist if it’s promoted.

The value of Moragahakanda For Tourism

moragahakanda is one of the largest project in sri lanka. Situated in between Kongahawela and Elahera areas. Its call moragahakanda – Kalu Ganga project, currently construction across the Amban river at Elahera, in the Matale District of Sri lanka. 

The dam was released in January 2017.

     Nowadays no any tourism related activity or accommodation facilities in the area. There is a only one viewpoint to see the tank. But there is a huge tourism value. 

One reason is its location, Matale, Dambulle is very famous for attraction. So we can include this lake also to this tourism area. There is a good scenic beauty. If someone travel through this Elahera Kongahawela road Moragahakanda brings good mind relaxation. 

    And also it’s a good destination for maintain tourism accommodations. If we promote this as a tourism destination, we can bring huge tourists arrival. There is a possibility to conduct some activities like boat safari, bird watching, hiking, etc. 

Its important not only from scenic beauty, if you visit you can see there is a good and high bio diversity system surrounding the

area. 

There are different type of animals as the owners of the forests. Among them Elephants and Peacocks are special. In the evening you can see these species come to drink water and find the foods. And also in the afternoon there are large number of cormorants on the tank as a gang. 

We can show these new resources to the world. So if we establish tourism in here with the good monitoring, we can make this as a good destination. But from the other side we have to save this, protect this. Because in some cases tourism became as the reason to destroy some

destination in Sri Lanka
